Limitless

Recently, I saw the movie Limitless with Bradley Cooper, Anna Friel, Abbie Cornish, and Robert De Niro, and all I can say is WOW!!!  For those who don't like to hear the plot or storyline before seeing a movie, you may want to close this post now.  All others, please keep reading.

The gist of this movie is that a writer has been trying to create a book for the longest only to find that he keeps having writers block.  He's under a time crunch because the publisher has already given him an advance.  So he does like most by trying to find a quiet place, an inspirational place, any place that will help him write this book.  But nothing helps.

Then he runs into his ex-brother-in-law on the street.  They go into a coffee shop to catch-up and low and behold the ex-brother-in-law drops an exquiste bomb on him in the form of a clear pill (each pill is $800, but he gave it to the writer for free).  The pill is promised to help the man think better, clearer, and remember everything he's ever read or learned.  The writer doesn't bite at first, but then he accepts the pill, but doesn't take it.

While sitting in his apartment with writers block, he decides to try the pill.  His whole world opened up.  He writes the book in like 4 hours, helps a neighbor write her thesis in 45 minutes, and he does what he had not done in the movie before - clean his apartment and clean himself up (he was looking rather grimy).  Then the affects of the pill start to wear off.  At this point, the writer becomes so interested in the power of the pill that he goes to his ex-brother-in-law's apartment for more.  He's decided to take some of the advance money to get a few more hits.

Before the ex-brother-in-law breaks him off, he sends the writer out to go get them breakfast.  When the writer returns to the apartment, the ex-brother-in-law is dead.  He panics, but not before searching the apartment for the clear pills.  He finds them and takes them.  Of course he called the cops about the ex-brother-in-law, but they didn't arrest him or anything.

From here, the writer is talking the pills everyday and he transitions from writing books, to getting into the stock market, to becoming this great financial advisor making millions in a very rapid span of time.  He catches the interest of an ex-girlfriend who likes the change and thinks there may be potential for more to develop between them.  He also catches the interest of a mogul who wants his financial advice to make better and more wealthier decisions.  The now former writer does this for awhile, but then gets to a point where he's ready to do his own thing which turns out to be a run for governor or the senate (I can't remember).  The mogul tries to blackmail him because he now knows that the clear pills are why he's been "smart".  However, the writer turned politician flips the script and lets the mogul now that he has more on him and can break his bank.  That's where the movie pretty much ends.

I've left out some other details, but if I gave it all away, would you watch the movie? :-)
